Jingbai City Street stop

Two of Jingbai City's low Yakusa street thugs are dealing a new drug near a Subway hub at the Kaho Intersection.  A random Police patrol passes and challenges them.  The thugs draw weapons and pit up a fight.

Just a Gun Fu mini game rules refresher for me.

Iron bar Beito and tattooed Yusuke, are dealing "Super Speed" a new illegal drug.  They fail to spot the cops arrival.

Officers Hirohide and Yuke nose around the Intersection and spot the illegal activity.

The Cops deploy and draw weapons

These are all 1d6 Extras.  The sequence is Yuki,  Hirohide, Ironbar then tattooed boy.
Yuki shoots the Ironbar boy through the body  dropping him.  I'll keep an eye on that boy's career.

Hirohide's bullet zings overhead, causing tattoo boy to break and run for the subway.

And he's moving impossibly quickly at x 3 movement.  Is this the result of the Super Speed drug?  Time to call the Department Detectives in on this case.

More 2mm terrain

I still needed some terrain for the 2mm Ancients setup.  If possible I'd like these to match my 6mm figures too if possible.

Hard builder's polystyrene, the Blue stuff.  I cut out the hill fort shape.

I cut a groove for the palisade, and the ramp for the gateway.

Bamboo slivers cut from barbecue sticks make the palisade frame.

And whilst I'm on with that job I use some tiny offcuts of the Blue polystyrene to make tents and the rampart of the Roman fort.  The base is Artists card.

Undercoat followed by a lighter brown wash.

Some round houses and flock.  Waiting for these to dry I carve a hill and use the same undercoat, wash and flock system.

The Jingbai City Police

My Jingbai Police Department is based on the Tokyo Police, but being in a Cyberpunk style of game they happily mix a multitude of Asian styles.

I really enjoyed painting these Fistful of Kung Fu miniatures.  The level of detail is incredible.

The Special Operations Department.  Both of them.

Let's not talk about the P on the back of those flak jackets.  US manufacturer I suppose.

The local Yakusa gang running from the cops

The Department street cops.
The SWAT team, also sporting a western P on those Flak jackets.

So my prospective Police Car is an Audi, probably not ideal for the Tokyo Force.

I'll be adding the dark blue stripe, Japanese lettering (rather than a P) a roof number and a light bar to the Audi.

Just the roof number left to do.

And the complete Special Operations Unit.

2mm Gauls

The next 2mm table place mat army I need is the Gallic Helvetii Confederation.  Several tribes banded together under the leadership of the Helvetii, meaning I can name the warbands individually.  Rather than the magnetic name tags the rules' author uses I'm just going for simple stick on tags that can easily be removed and rewritten.

Veteran Helvetii warband

Helvettii warband

Tigrini warband

Raurici warband

Tulingi warband

Latobrigi warband

Boii fanatic warband

Gallic Noble Cavalry

Tribal Skirmishers

Baggage wagon laager

General

The basic method.  The matting is boosted by a card or Cork layer between it and the base.  It comes to around 2mm in height.

And the effect is one of lines of troops packed together.

I'm considering placing the Roman Villa on Right Move, as a compact and bijoux property.

A dark brown undercoat covers the bases before dotting and dry brushing.

And the finished army:

And the opposition

1878 Queen Victoria's Government

I am still working on my Victorian Colonial period game, which uses the British Parliament as the forum for prosecuting Wars.  In part this is based on Avalon Hill's Republic of Rome but I have developed mine as a solo game.

My rules are very much a work in progress, constantly being added to and updated.  In fact I've ruthlessly scrapped some of my earlier ideas and even the cards I've had printed may not survive the process.

Setup

The Treasury is determined.  Roll 2d6 x 12 for the number x 1000 guineas.  Low rolling will create a cash strapped Government pretty quickly.  The total is recorded in the Treasury

The cards are shuffled and dealt blind into three six card hands.

These are then turned and examined.  Find the Whig, Tory and Radical MPs with most influence.  These become party leaders.  Any tips in the influence score are resolved in favour of alphabetical order.

All MPs cards are moved to the same hand as their party leaders.  Count up the influence for each side, the highest forming a Government.

Any Wars are placed into the Active Wars zone.  Enemy leaders are added onto the map, or onto their active war if relevant.

Any bills are retained by the party leaders, but the Government may place a bill before the dispatch box as first business.

Any scandals are placed in "The Papers" and random rolls determine which unlucky MP attracts attention.

Any Concessions are held by party leaders at this point, but may need to be given to individual MPs to buy loyalty.

Any Military Officers are sent to Home Service.

A Field Force is deployed in Home Service and one in India.

Add the influence total in the respective political parties.  The one with the most influence becomes the Government.
The politician with highest influence is PM.
If Parliament is split both sides may attempt to attract Radicals or Independents by paying 4000 guineas.

The Government sponsors a Bill but must still pay to support its passage.  The price differs between bills.

Whigs and Liberals take 12000 as a party guineas to support to a bill as a party.

Tories  take 12000 guineas to support a Bill as a party.
Unionists  take 4000 guineas each to support a Bill, even if part of a Government, but add d6 to Irish Unrest

Radicals and Independents take 4000 guineas each to support a Bill.

The Lords  will take 12000 guineas to guarantee to pass a bill, otherwise roll d6.  On a 4, 5, 6 the bill passes, roll lover and it is sent back to the dispatch box.

Wars have a face cost, to send out a field force.  Enemy leaders may increase this cost.  Once  field force is dispatched

With setup complete we move to the first month, and draw a card.  Twelve cards will be drawn for each year of the campaign and the deck holds ten years worth of cards for each period.

(Except the early deck which has more cards but covers a far longer period)

Radical fellows.  I will get these properly printed up.

1879.  The Game opens

The deal gives the Liberals, under Disraeli, a powerful party.  Six MPs with a stack of influence.  The opposing Tories are pitiful, but will strengthen as the game develops.
The Radicals are almost as strong as the Tories, and if Gladstone appears he could draw some of them in for support.

A Scandal rocks the January papers, Men in Petticoats, one that rocked Victorian visions of morality at the time.

MP Sir Robert Slack is implicated and resigns.
Disraeli places the Consolidated Funds Act before the dispatch box, certain to force it through adding 12000 guineas to the Treasury from interests.

Game paused for my trip to Milan.

The Rhodes  Company stock props up the Treasury.

Quilp and Strainer, a pair of Radicals are brought in to prop up the Government, cost 12000 guineas.

The Queens speech for 1879. "My Government shall pursue the Anglo Afghan War and pacify Ireland.  God save myself."

Paused again.
