Jingbai City Street stop

Two of Jingbai City's low Yakusa street thugs are dealing a new drug near a Subway hub at the Kaho Intersection.  A random Police patrol passes and challenges them.  The thugs draw weapons and pit up a fight.

Just a Gun Fu mini game rules refresher for me.

Iron bar Beito and tattooed Yusuke, are dealing "Super Speed" a new illegal drug.  They fail to spot the cops arrival.

Officers Hirohide and Yuke nose around the Intersection and spot the illegal activity.

The Cops deploy and draw weapons

These are all 1d6 Extras.  The sequence is Yuki,  Hirohide, Ironbar then tattooed boy.
Yuki shoots the Ironbar boy through the body  dropping him.  I'll keep an eye on that boy's career.

Hirohide's bullet zings overhead, causing tattoo boy to break and run for the subway.

And he's moving impossibly quickly at x 3 movement.  Is this the result of the Super Speed drug?  Time to call the Department Detectives in on this case.

The Jingbai City Police

My Jingbai Police Department is based on the Tokyo Police, but being in a Cyberpunk style of game they happily mix a multitude of Asian styles.

I really enjoyed painting these Fistful of Kung Fu miniatures.  The level of detail is incredible.

The Special Operations Department.  Both of them.

Let's not talk about the P on the back of those flak jackets.  US manufacturer I suppose.

The local Yakusa gang running from the cops

The Department street cops.
The SWAT team, also sporting a western P on those Flak jackets.

So my prospective Police Car is an Audi, probably not ideal for the Tokyo Force.

I'll be adding the dark blue stripe, Japanese lettering (rather than a P) a roof number and a light bar to the Audi.

Just the roof number left to do.

And the complete Special Operations Unit.

Jingbai City Supermarket Sweep

An intelligence source, codename "Hagībea." (Ok so its Huggy bear in Japanese!) has revealed that an Assassination team known as Chikaru's Angels have arrived in Jingbai City.  Their target is unknown but the Police Department are on high alert.

Meantime Sergeant Arakai and his sidekick Ito, of the Special Task Unit* have arrived at a Jingbai SuperMart store following a lead.   It's been reported that one of the trolley collectors resembles the published CVTV images of the Jingbai Ghoul.  Seems unlikely but this is a good chance to pick up some Pica-Pica Mega soda, the soda that keeps you going...  the Department, and especially Ito, are all crazy for the stuff.

Once inside the store however it immediately becomes clear that something is very wrong.  Call for back up, these babes are tooled up.

*The Special Task Unit comprises just these two Officers and is widely viewed as a punishment posting.

STREET THUGS

What's really going on?

1.  A trolley collecting guy out back is actually the long lost son of Chikaru, the international assassin, and she wants him captured.

2.  The trolley boy has an innate psychic talent.  The Assassins want to capture him to use him as a weapon.

3.  The Ghoul does work here as his alternate identity, Baldy Beito the trolley guy.  The Angels are here to capture him for their boss.

4.  A single can of the Pica-Pica Monster drink has been poisoned, as part of a Yakusa gambling game.  All bets are in and the Assassins are here to keep the game fair.  Who will be the Unlucky customer?

5.  The Supermarket was built over the ruins of an ancient Temple to Hachiman, and an artefact has appeared on the shelves on aisle six, whispering "Take the weapon, become the Avatar of the War God, bet on 17 Red"

6.  The entire Supermarket store is a front for the Assassins League.  The five women working here are the real Chicaru's Angels assassins, and the Jingbai Ghoul is Chicaru himself.

They notice that there are some very sassy looking lady customers in here today.

And the trolley boys activate on that roll of 1.  Turns out this is the Ghoul's crew.

The two cops confront the Ghoul and his men, draw and open fire.

The bad guys are driven back.

I roll the "What's going on."  Normal day in Jingbai City.

But one of the goons has a shotgun.  The two cops duck back into cover from those shock dice.

The Ghoul heads for the back door, but the Angels are about to act.

The Ghoul's men are knocked down.  The Angel's close in.

And a few well aimed shots drive the cops back into cover.

Gogo attacks the Ghoul.  That sword work is +2

The Ghoul fights back, but he's not up to it.

The Ghoul is subdued and bundled into a car boot.  He is being taken for a meeting with Chikaru, the Angel's sinister employer.  The Cops lost this one big time.

Big Trouble on the Jingbai City Underground

Jingbai City has had its share of problems recently. The overworked and underpaid Police Department are investigating the appearance of no less than three new drugs onto the underground market, and the resulting Yakuza territory war.  Worse, the Government's strengthening of the Replicant Act has meant a spate of killings and a non human break out from the Hao Facility.  Any Replicants hiding in the general population must now be hunted down, by the police.

In Other news the Jingbai City Ghoul has struck again, murdering a Hao corporate executive, in a grisly encounter in a Metro parking lot. The Ghoul escaped the police pursuit, and City Force chief  Tanaka Hiroshi has sworn to have the psychopath hunted down.

The Jingbai City Ghoul

A murderous psychopath has been haunting the Jingbai underground.  Police have finally cornered him in a tube station, and are closing in.  But is this "Ghoul" more than he seems?

The Criminals

Boss, the Ghoul, Atsuo  Akino  + D6 Extras

Kahei Watari, fast talking lawyer with an Uzi
Chica Watabe, renegade corporate executive.

SO FAR...

Araki Katsuo Police Sergeant Third Class of Jingbai City and his men have cornered the murderer known as "The Ghoul" in a subway station.

What's really going on?

1.  The limitless speed drug "Lightning-Z" is behind this.  The "Ghoul" is twice as fast as a normal human.  He harvests human hippocampus  to create his LZ powder.  The Hao Corporation back him

2.  The "Ghoul"  is actually an agent of the secretive Hebi, a Governmental intelligence Agency.  He's insane but he's our guy.  Expect a military extraction team on turn 6.

3.  Local City Police Chief, Tanaka Hiroshi, is involved in a plot.  You are ordered to let The "Ghoul" escape.

4.  The "Ghoul" is a replicant.  Hope you have a blade runner handy.

5.  The terrorists really want access to a Data node hidden in a ticket vending machine to plant a hacking program.

6.  The Okubo Crime family is aware of the robbery and sent a team of high level assassins to infiltrate the building and steal the artefact from the thieves once it is secured.

Didn't get many pictures in this fast flowing game.  The Corporate babe downed police officers again and again.

My hero detective performs poorly.  The SWAT team do better, they put "The Ghoul" down, but his men carry him off, escaping the station.

The Corporate Exec lady turns out to be a fabulous shot.  She will be promoted from Extra to Bruiser in later games.

And thank heavens for the efficiency of the Japanese Rail Network.  After rolling Ever Decreasing Numbers (Edna) to determine the arrival of the next train it trundles over the Corporate Exec.  The only problem is that once the train has passed through, there is no sign of her.  Surely she cannot have survived that?

The Ghoul has escaped again.  Can our heroes track him down?
Tune in next episode as the cops foil an assassination attempt in the local supermarket.  Clean up on aisle nine?
