Unfortunately most of the "Desert Air Force" have gone missing hereabouts, and I'm desperately short on aircraft. Squadron Leader William Hay can only send out his planes in pairs to provide the cover. my four Gloster Gladiators will probably be more of a hindrance than anything else. (The historic Desert Air Force has three squadrons of these old ladies)
The game will be in three phases. The ME110 attack, the Stuka attack (With ME109 cover) and the sweeping might of the Regio Aeronautica's attack. There have already been questions in the House as to the dire state of the Desert Air Force, and the Convoy might actually have reinforcements for them. Either way they will only have three pairs of Hurricanes to deal with the Axis waves.
The convoy will comprise eight of my Hallmark 1:6000 WW2 Merchant ships, three destroyers and a cruiser. I`m hoping that the small size of the ships works against the larger planes.
The Desert Air Force will put up it's hurricanes in three flights of two. Fortunately all pilots of the Desert Air Force are either regulars or veterans.
- Quiggles and Algy, Hurricane Mk 1
- Bertie and Ginger, Hurricane Mk 1
- Minty and Bunny, Hurricane Mk 1, Biffer, Chas, Yosser and Strangely Browne in the Gladiators.

The ME110 come on table |
Quiggles and Algy in their hurricanes |
Between the aircraft, Convoy 32 |
Quiggles sweeps in and downs a Messerschmidt |
Algy dives down and kills the second ME110. Job done! |
The Stukas come in at mid level |
But Bertie and Ginger approach higher |
Bertie gets his first kill |
Ginger sweeps around and an oblique shot sees off the second Stuka. |
Round three. A large Italian Bomber approaches the Convoy |
But everyone can relax. The Gloster Gladiators are here. |
The Bomber makes its run. Its almost as fast as those Gladiators. |
The bombs sink a ship! Two of the Gladiators give chase. |
And Heayyy! The Italians have arrived. Four fighters. |
They are all over the Gladiators in moments |
But Strangley-Browne actually gets on the tail. he can`t stay there because of the Italians's speed. |
And the Gladiator massacre has begun |
Minty and Bunny arrive in their Hurricanes |
But the Italians swarm them too |
Another Gladiator is killed. |
And then yet another. Only Strangely-Browne survives |
Bunny gets on the tail and drops one of the Folgore |
The Italians leave the tabletop, chased off by Bunny and Minty.
Bunny's roll of five fives was pretty much a first for me. The Gladiators are really over classed in terms of speed, but Strangely Browne downed one of the Fiat G50s so they can do the job if they get lucky.
