Randi Ram and the Temple of Goaty Doom

Randi Ram and the Temple of Goaty Doom

Before writing up the scenario for this game I did a play through.  Having had to sell all of my 28mm collections for the move to Cyprus this is the first of my India games to use 15mm figures.  The painting is not at a great standard, but for me its always been more about the game.  I will tidy them up eventually, add a dip, and I freely admit to rushing these guys into action.  Similarly the green base cloth isn`t really my idea of India.

The 2nd Madras Coastal Battalion has sent three of its NCOs on a detached mission with half a company.  They have already faced the Forces of the temple of the Goat, and are now poised to attack the Temple itself.
 Overview of the tabletop.

The Temple of the Golden Goat of Doom
 The Guru of the Goat.

Dilip forms his skirmishers into a line and gives the charging fanatics a volley.
Charu also uses firepower to drive off a group of ambushing badmashes.

Dilip took the lead with his platoon deployed as skirmishers.  British Officers did not think much of Native battalions skirmishing, but the 2nd madras have been fighting bandits for years, and are well used to this sort of thing.
Vikram takes the main body, accompained by a trumpeter.  The rear most platoon is Charu's and he also supervises the gun.

The scenario is essentially an ambush.  The Guru has reinforced the temple with some of the Bhuna's trained musket armed troops.  He also has groups of Badmashes fanatic Cult followers, armed with sticks and bits of pot.

Dilip drives back the badmashes on the left, whilst Charu engages those hidden on the right.  Vikram orders fix bayonets, gies a volley at the temple and then leads the charge on the walls.  The three Havidars occupy the temple.
A pretty straight forward game, and a scenario I will have to tweak a little.  Maybe I need that rope bridge!

The last game of this group of three "Havildar" games will be the Epic Siege of the Temple by the Guru and his followers.
