The basic idea I'm looking at is for a player to control the aircraft without counting hexes, which is a personal gripe.
The player gives the manoeuvre and takes the test using a dice bot. The umpire moves the aircraft. Camera shot to the front. No shots from above. If enemy planes get behind you then you can see it in their photo.
So... a player would order hard turn 6. I would move the plane and show the view. BUT in my games there is a cheeky d4 extra move that gets added. Players often roll this before moving but that's just not on. It adds to the fluidity of the situation.
So to practice this Maurice Le Coq of the French Air Force will go up against Leutnant Fitz Sexpest of Jasta 9. It's an Eindekker vs a Nieuport 11.
Solo gaming so I need fog. But could this be played like this as a multi player?
I'll see tomorrow.
The Nieuport 11 of Capitaine Maurice Le Coq. Some people call him the French Cowboy, some call him the Hamster of Love, some people call him Maurice, because he speaks the pompitious of Love...
For the meaning of the word pompitious I refer you to the Steve Miller band circa 1973, if you find out please let me know.
The Farthingdale solo and quick play ammendments.
Use a micro d6 for ammunition totals. Saves recording on paper. Lewis guns record 1/4 drum.
Remove the micro dice for out of ammo before replacing drum or German Parabellum dice.
Never count hexes. Robust damage marker. Shooting allowed between two adjacent height levels up or down one.
Deflection shooting is always at half dice, simplifies the seconds thing.
Maybe ... a timer bot. Miss rolling your manoeuvre and you fly straight and level this turn. A plane that leaves the combat zone re-enters if the player wishes where it left, after rolling d6 4 5 or 6. (Then 3,4,5,6 etc...)
Ceiling roll. Can be limited down to 6 or lower due to cloud cover. Makes it easier on players not used to 12 levels.
Archie. One roll not three. Single hit on a 6. Not over level 6.
........ last one, the d4 roll that reflects the difficulty of estimating early engine speeds. Always rolled after the move to add hexes. Rolling before is cheesy.
Innuendo and punning may earn an additional fire dice.
It is mandatory to say Daga-daga-daga instead of I open fire...
