Dragoon  Lieutenant Rene Douche-Sac and Brigadier (Corporal)
Louis Brasforté, a man who refuses to let go of his trumpet.
The home depot of the 21e is the Cavalry Barracks in the city of Auch  Almost the entire regiment are therefore reckless swaggering Gascons, who fancy themselves 19th Century  d'Artagnans.  Perfect material for a modern Cavalry Regiment.

The Colonel is Printemps Petite-Cocke, Piz Nez wearing former Auch schoolmaster and tightly trousered Republican politician, who spends his time buttering up Generals and is never seen near the front.  The Colonel will never risk his own skin whilst he has the swaggering Captaine Alex Craimante and his Gascons of the 21e to do the dirty jobs for him.

The Dragoon skirmishers
The 21e still need their bases textured and a dip, but they are effectively done.  Instead of 8 figures in a cavalry unit I am using six in the interests of parsimony, and will take two phantom casualties from a unit before removing figures.

A word about aptronym.  Although the names I tend to use are intended to be humerous it did occur to me that they very often end up guiding the character.  Dick Wellard probably won't end up as a celibate, Alex Craimante was never going to be a nice guy...  My defence is that I am following  the great Carry On here, rather than just using smutty names!

For these games l also use the Nomes de Guerre of the Petains, since these are the Commanders giving the orders to the various companies.  I freely admit that this also adds some verisimilitude to proceedings.

Other Nomes de Guerre that may appear...

The Engineer Major James Catchcocke, (later Sir James) whose memoirs are extensively quoted.
Hamish McGurk of the 88th.  Swearing drunken Irishman of the Connaught Rangers.
Captain Micheal Strangelove (a moody artiste)
Ensign James Jammiswine (Young Thruster and dice cheat)

Alex Craiment "Out of the way Sh*theads!"
